User guide of the main landline telephony services

Depending on the type of call:

  • service call: dial 0 followed by the number to call
  • private: dial 595 followed by the number to call

Dial the number 99

To activate the lock/unlock features, you can alternatively use:

the telephone: dial the number 5555 and follow the instructing message

the web:

    1. connect to the User web page accessible through the Telephone Service– Perusal of traffic and management data application available in Online Services, Data section
    2. select the Landline User profile
    3. click on the red phone icon
    4. select in the next form the “telephones and lines” item
    5. select the extension
    6. click on the “lock” symbol and select the feature you want to activate

Each activated extension is allocated a temporary PIN (locking code).
We recommend, immediately after installing the telephone, to change the code using the “Change PIN” feature and complying with the following procedure:

  1. connect to the User web page accessible through the Telephone Service– Perusal of traffic and management data application available in Online Services, Data section
  2. select the Landline User profile
  3. click on the red phone icon
  4. select from the User Option menu the “Change PIN” item
  5. enter the new pin (5 digital characters)
  6. re-enter the PIN then check the change through the Change PIN key

The service is only activated at the behest of the contact person of the structure.

Consultation

To consult one’s voicemail:

  1. dial the extension 8197 or press the “messages” key (small plastic bag) if present
  2. follow the system instructions

NB: Any voice message received, unless directly deleted by the user after listening to it, will remain available of the phone for 90 days. Once that period has expired, the message will be automatically deleted from the voicemail system and will only be accessible by opening the .wav notified by e-mail.

Remote consultation

To consult and/or delete the voicemail messages from a line external to Politecnico, dial the number 02 2399 8197 and follow the system instructions.

Customisation

To customise the standard voicemail message:

  1. access the voicemail
  2. type 2 to record your welcoming message
  3. follow the system instructions

Direct forwarding of the telephone extension to voicemail

To permanently forward the calls directed to one’s device onto the mailbox, you may alternatively use:

the WEB:

  1. connect to the User web page accessible through the Telephone Service– Perusal of traffic and management data application available in Online Services, Data section
  2. select the Landline User profile
  3. click on the red phone icon
  4. select in the next form the “telephones and lines” item
  5. select the extension
  6. tick the “voicemail” checkbox in the “divert all calls” section

The web procedure makes it furthermore possible to set the call forwarding unto one’s voicemail for no reply or engaged number.

the telephone:

  • Analog IP phone: dial #1 wait for the dial tone, dial 8197 and wait for the automatic hang-up.
    Alternatively: dial #1 wait for the dial tone dial 1200 followed by the telephone extension and hang up.
    To remove the call forwarding dial #2 and hang up.
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the DevTutt (Divert All) key followed by the message key (small bag).
    Alternatively: press the DevTutt key followed by the extension 8197, or press the DevTutt key and dial 1200 followed by the telephone extension.
    To remove the call forwarding press the DevTutt key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the InoltTut (Forward All) key followed by the message key (small bag).
    Alternatively: press the InoltTut key followed by the extension 8197, or press the InoltTut key and dial 1200 followed by the telephone extension.
    To remove the call forwarding press the InoltDis (Forward Disable) key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the InoltraTutte (Forward All) key by the message key (small bag).
    Alternatively: press the InoltTut key followed by the extension 8197, or press the InoltraTutte key and dial 1200 followed by the telephone extension.
    To remove the call forwarding press the InoltroDisab key.

There are two different ways of opening the door, depending on whether the external phone (Remote-controlled door opener) is a classic mountable wall phone or an intercom.

  • Door managed through mountable wall phone: hang up the incoming call and dial the telephone extension of the remotely operated door opener.
  • Door managed through intercom: dial the code 0* (Zero and Asterisk) on the telephone keypad during the conversation and hang up.

The request must only be made by contact person of the structure through the form called Telephone extension activation available online on the Requests in the telephone field page.

It is important to record the Door Opener indication in the “User Name” field of the form.

The contact person must furthermore attach to the request form the list of telephone extensions of the structure to be enabled for opening the door.

The Remote-controlled Door Opener feature presupposes the electrification of the door itself. This activity, entrusted to the Infrastructures, Estates and General Services, must be directly requested by the contact person of the structure from the Call Centre (extension 9300).

To redial the last number punched in

  • Analog IP phone: dial *#
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Repeat key
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the Repeat key
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the Repeat key
  • Cisco SIP Phone: check the phone manual

To answer a call from another extension directed to a phone device in the absence of its owner.

  • Analog IP phone: dial #3
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Risp.ass (Answer absent owner) key
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the Risp.ass key
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the Risp.ass key

To forward the calls directed to one’s own device onto another telephone extension, you may alternatively use:

the WEB:

  1. connect to the User web page accessible through the Telephone Service– Perusal of traffic and management data application available in Online Services, Data section
  2. select the Landline User profile
  3. click on the red phone icon
  4. select in the next form the “telephones and lines” item
  5. select the extension
  6. in the “Divert all calls” section, insert the “flag” in the checkbox corresponding to the telephone number item and the telephone extension number to divert the call to.

The web procedure makes it furthermore possible to set the call forwarding for no reply or engaged number.

the telephone:

  • Analog IP phone: dial #1 followed by the number of the device you intend diverting the calls to. To remove the call forwarding, dial #2 and hang up after the callback tone.
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Devtutt key followed by the number of the device you intend diverting the calls to. To remove the call forwarding, press the Devtutt key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the InoltTut key followed by the number of the device you intend diverting the calls to. To remove the call forwarding, press the InoltDis key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the InoltraTutte key followed by the number of the device you intend diverting the calls to. To remove the call forwarding, press the InoltroDisab key.

Depending on the device available:

  • Analog IP phone: dial R and after the callback tone dial the number of the desired device or, for the switchboard, the number 99.
    To disconnect the third party called, at the end of the call or if the device called is engaged or does not answer, dial R.
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Trasfer (Transfer) key and dial the number of the desired device or, for the switchboard, the number 99.
    To disconnect the third party called, at the end of the call or if the device called is engaged or does not answer, press the Chiudi (End call) key followed by Ripr (Resume).
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the Trasfer key and dial the number of the desired device or, for the switchboard, the number 99.
    To disconnect the third party called, at the end of the call or if the device called is engaged or does not answer, press the Annulla (Cancel) key followed by Ripr.
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the Trasferisci (Transfer) key and dial the number of the desired device or, for the switchboard, the number 99.
    To disconnect the third party called, at the end of the call or if the device called is engaged or does not answer, press the Termina (End call) key followed by Ripr.

If, during a call, internal or external, you wish to put the interlocutor on hold:

  • Analog IP phone: press the R key.
    To resume the call on hold, press again the R key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Attesa (On hold) key.
    To resume the call on hold, press the Ripr key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the Attesa key.
    To resume the call on hold, press the Ripr key.
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the Attesa key.
    To resume the call on hold, press the Ripr key.

To transfer a call, internal or external, to a telephone extension.

  • Analog IP phone: press the R key and after the callback tone dial the number of the extension desired and hang up after the answer.
  • Cisco IP Phone 79xx and 69xx series: press the Trasfer key and dial the number of the extension desired. After the reply press Trasfer again.
  • Cisco IP Phone 78xx series: press the Trasfer key and dial the number of the extension desired. After the reply press Trasfer again.
  • Cisco IP Phone 88xx series: press the Trasferisci key and dial the number of the extension desired. After the reply press Trasferisci again.

To call from the public network a Politecnico extension, you need to punch in before the 4 digits of the extension published on the University telephone directory the identifying campus code the extension relates to:

  • 022399 (MILAN)
  • 031332 (COMO)
  • 037256 (CREMONA)
  • 034148 (LECCO)
  • 037631 (MANTOVA)
  • 052335 (PIACENZA)

The foregoing excludes the Milan and Como area codes enabling you to reach all the Politecnico extensions:

  • from MILAN by punching the area code “02 2399” before the published number
  • from COMO by punching the area code “031 332” before the published number
